Gritty City Theatre Company was born in 2019 in Hamilton’s North End. Our mission is to explore stories and all genres which address matters of class and race theatrically and cinematically.


Here's what we accomplished this year:
WE MADE A MOVIE!!

 Gritty City Theatre Company and Red Beti Theatre were a part of CCENA's Longtable at McMaster University discussing initiatives to help make Hamilton’s theatre scene more inclusive!

Thank you to the energetic and open participants! We are looking forward to our next workshop for City of Hamilton employees December 5. JUNE

“The Canadian Slavery Project.”  

Our collective of writers are gathering colonial fugitive slave ads and creating monologues imagining the lives of the enslaved Canadians during the 18th Century.  The culminating event will be a theatrical performance in 2024/25.
